Generic Name: Latanoprost Ophthalmic Solution
Brand Name: Micropost
Dosage Form: Sterile Eye Drops
Strength: 0.005% w/v (50 mcg/mL)
Therapeutic Class: Prostaglandin F2α Analog – Antiglaucoma Agent

Description:

Micropost Eye Drops contain Latanoprost, a synthetic prostaglandin F2α analog used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. By increasing the outflow of aqueous humor (the fluid within the eye), Latanoprost helps reduce IOP—a critical factor in preventing optic nerve damage and vision loss in glaucoma patients.

Indications:

  • Open-angle glaucoma

  • Ocular hypertension

  • Can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other IOP-lowering agents

Directions for Use:

  • Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, or as directed by your ophthalmologist.

  • Do not exceed once-daily dosing, as more frequent use may reduce effectiveness.

Precautions:

  • For ophthalmic use only.

  • Remove contact lenses before use; wait 15 minutes before reinserting.

  • Use with caution in patients with a history of iritis/uveitis or macular edema.

  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Increased pigmentation of the iris (especially in patients with mixed-color irises) – usually permanent

  • Eyelash changes: increased length, thickness, or number

  • Eye redness or irritation

  • Blurred vision

  • Dry eyes

  • Foreign body sensation

  • Rare: macular edema, uveitis

Storage:

  • Store unopened bottle at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F) (refrigerated).

  • After opening, store at room temperature (below 25°C) and use within 28 days.

  • Keep bottle tightly closed and protect from light.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

Note:

Micropost should be used exactly as prescribed. Long-term use may result in permanent iris color changes. Routine eye pressure monitoring is essential during treatment.
