Generic Name: Brimonidine Tartrate Ophthalmic Solution
Brand Name: Brimopress
Dosage Form: Sterile Eye Drops
Strength: 0.2% w/v
Therapeutic Class: Alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptor Agonist – Antiglaucoma Agent

Description:

Brimopress Eye Drops contain Brimonidine Tartrate, an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist used in the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

Brimonidine works by reducing the production of aqueous humor and enhancing its outflow, thereby lowering intraocular pressure—a critical factor in preventing optic nerve damage and vision loss associated with glaucoma.

Indications:

  • Treatment of open-angle glaucoma

  • Management of ocular hypertension

  • May be used alone or in combination with other IOP-lowering medications

Directions for Use:

  • Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) two to three times daily or as directed by your ophthalmologist.

  • If using other eye medications, allow at least 5–10 minutes between applications.

Precautions:

  • For ophthalmic use only – do not ingest.

  • Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, depression, or severe renal/hepatic impairment.

  • Not recommended for use in infants under 2 years due to risk of severe side effects.

  • Contact lenses should be removed before use and reinserted after 15 minutes.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Eye redness or irritation

  • Dry mouth

  • Blurred vision

  • Fatigue or drowsiness

  • Allergic conjunctivitis (rare but possible with long-term use)

If any severe or persistent symptoms occur, discontinue use and consult your doctor immediately.

Storage:

  • Store at 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F).

  • Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

  • Protect from light.

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Do not use if the solution changes color or becomes cloudy.

Note:

Use Brimopress strictly under medical supervision. Do not stop treatment abruptly without consulting your ophthalmologist, as this may cause rebound IOP elevation.
